The Palace and Fortress of Alhambra in Granada, Andalusia, Spain
The floodlit Alhambra from the terrace in front of the Iglesia de San Nicolás in the Albaicin district.
Watching the sun set and the fortress floodlights rise is a magical moment in Granada, and the place to view it is the Mirador de San Nicolas. After our visit to the palace, we took a bus to the top of the Albaicin well before sunset and found a spot on the terrace. This is my favorite photo in our short stay in Granada on our 25-Day itinerary in Madrid and Andalusia. I love the twilight blues in the photo, and it’s still light enough to see the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background. An unforgettable view, we finally left the terrace well after dark and made our meandering way down the narrow paths of this famous quarter in Granada.
