Sa Riera, Catalonia, Spain
The first walk on this wildly windy day on the Costa Brava was from the picturesque fishing village of Sa Riera, up a well maintained footpath around the craggy rocks. Views north from the path high above the crashing sea were terrific, you can see the long sandy curve of the Pals Beach (Pltaja de Pals) all the way up the coast. Around a few bends the easy stroll ended with a steep descent. It wasn’t coming across the picture perfect nude beach of Illa Roja below that made me crash the final few steps, it was the ball-bearing quality pebbles and sand. Honest.
